Directory caches.

This uses a rudimentary CPU speed check at launch to gate larger
cache sizes. (This is on the theory that older systems or those
with weaker CPUs will struggle to walk the cache.)

FreeBSD less options improvement.

When less hits the end, I want it to not quit. But I also want
less to not page at all on content which fits onto a single screen.
